The Motor Sports Association (MSA) regrets to confirm that one person has died and another has been seriously injured in a road traffic accident on the Vale of Clwyd Classic Rally.
The event is an historic road rally comprising a combination of 'tests' on private land and sections on the public highway.
The person who has tragically died is a motorcyclist, and was not part of the event. The driver of one of the competing cars has been transferred to hospital with serious injuries; his navigator was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
As with any serious incident in or around UK motor sport, the MSA will be working with the police and the event organising club to establish precisely what happened on this occasion.
The MSA offers its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, and offers its very best wishes to the competitors for a swift recovery.
The MSA will be making no further statement at this time.
